every piece of clothes that's my FAVORITE

Last night I was talking to my Anya about what we'll be like when we're old. She thought that maybe she'd like to be very elegant one day, and she said that the next day she'll "just wear every piece of clothes that's my FAVORITE." This makes me laugh and smile, and reminds me of this poem:

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people's gardens
And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickles for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beer mats and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Haha. Kath. I love how you posted that twice, and, in so doing, spammed yourSELF with a comment about deleting spam.

Twironic!

Oh, right: the helping part.

Uhm, well, I'm not exactly sure how to delete comment spam in Blogger. But, in my blogging program, there's an Admin section where you can view all the comments made on your site, check the IP's that sent them, edit them, and delete them. So, I'm assuming there must be some sort of system like that in Blogger as well. But that's the best I can do.

Hey Kathy,

You should be able to delete this comment and any other comment just by clicking on the trash icon below each comment when you are logged in to blogspot. That is how I did it. Thanks for posting on my blog even before I went public with it. I hope that works.

I have always loved that poem and can never find it when I want it. Now that I know you have it, so you can become my on-demand poetry supplier.
Anya, I want to know you when you're old. :) Though I'll be oldER and maybe too senile to notice if you wear the same clothes every day. But then I will be blissfully unaware of my own eccentricities, too. Sweet. I am going to be one rockin' old lady.
